Welcome to the hummingbird

Welcome to The Hummingbird Kitchen & Bar, we hope we find you well, glad you’ve stumbled across our home on the world wide web.

We‘re new here but we’ve got a bit of history so you’re in safe hands. During the course of the past 6 years as The Angels Share (rest her soul) we have learnt so much about the people and the culture of Chapel Allerton life, whilst creating many a memorable nights.

We’ve always strived to create and maintain places which we would want to come to ourselves, and places where we have hoped you’ll join us. This has been evident in our growth as a company and as consumers of the finer things in life. 15 years ago we opened Oporto, we were young, vibrant and a little rough around the edges. We grew into Jakes Bar & Grill, a haven of finely crafted Cocktails and lip smacking American Grill food. This was followed by our little something of a midlife crisis- which happily coincided with a new found love for fresh market food and of course Tequila, and thus was born The Neon Cactus.

So here we are in Chapel Allerton in the present day, a little older, a lot wiser and still with a hell of a lot to give, and that’s the reason you’re here, the next stage in our evolution, The Hummingbird. We’ve distilled all our collective knowledge into our newest hangout, a three tiered celebration of everything we love about food, drink, fun and most importantly our little corner of Yorkshire.

So please Old Friends feast upon the finest in locally sourced food, with meat from Yorkshire’s most renowned butcher, poultry from ‘over the way’, a wonderful selection of British beers and wines, cocktails inspired by and made with the flavours of The British Isles. A sprinkling of the best of what the rest of the World has to offer and, we hope, the friendliness and the standards of service you have come to expect from us.

So friends old and new: “We’ll see you at The Hummingbird.”

With thanks and affection
